How it all started...
Vonda Hamilton fell into Deaf ministry, but she fell in love with the culture and the people and she hit the ground running. She was passionate about Jesus and she wanted the Deaf and HoH to have the opportunity to hear the gospel in their own native language: American Sign Language. She saw the need and did something.. She was involved in a few different ministries before she founded Expressions of Emmanuel. She prayed asking God to help her have the ability to get Bible teachings and worship songs into the Deaf community. She traveled to 36 countries to work with the Deaf and 46 states in the US. She wanted people to know that God loves the Deaf! He speaks their language; we just needed to do something to make it more accessible for the Deaf community.
Expanding the vision...
Vonda had big dreams. She was flying on faith! When she first started the ministry she promoted that we do video, but the issue was we didn't have a videographer. Vonda had no problem traveling and teaching, but we recognized that videos had the capacity to go farther and reach more people. So she prayed! The Lord answered her prayer, and Steven Hamilton started volunteering, and he also became her husband. Steven is a talented videographer and editor, so it was beautiful to see how their stories intertwined for God's glory. Since then, they released over 18 DVDS full of videos containing Bible lessons and worship songs in ASL accompanied with English voiceovers. Now, we are transferring it over to app so that it can reach more people.
Where we are headed...
Vonda wasn't afraid to ask for help, so that people can know that they are needed. If we think someone else will get involved then it's quite possible that no one will, because we always think it will be the church down the street. But we all have an opportunity to do something about the unreached people group in our backyard. We need you to care and act on it. We are funded by gifts from churches and individuals so that we can continue the ministry of reaching the Deaf for Jesus!
Vonda has passed away, but her vision is still alive.. and the need is still great. We still have over 250 songs and lessons that have yet to be edited. We are doing outreaches locally and internationally. The work is great and the workers are few, so please PRAY, GIVE, and SERVE.
